It’s always a good day whey you hear the words, rare and Jimi Hendrix mentioned together, a new collection of rare Jimi Hendrix instrumentals are going to be released on vinyl.
The special compilation will be released in North America later this month as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday event.
The “official bootleg” is titled Hear My Music, it features songs recorded by the legendary guitarist in 1969. The album will be issued by Dagger Records and will contain two vinyl LPs full of Hendrix’s “creative explorations.”
The rare material was recorded by Jimi as solo demos and as free-form group jams with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Among the 11 tracks are two versions of ‘Valleys Of Neptune’ – one featuring a Hendrix solo on electric guitar and the other a piano version.
The collection will also include unedited versions of tracks ‘Drone Blue’ and ‘Jimi’, both of which featured on the now unavailable 1980 record Nine To The Universe.
Hendrix’s sister, Janie Hendrix, helped produce the double LP with engineer Eddie Kramer and Hendrix expert John McDermott. Hear My Music will be available to buy on November 28th.
Earlier this year, two other posthumous Hendrix albums, The Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge were reissued.
