The Minister for Transport Shane Ross has apologised after posting a picture of himself charging an electric car at a charge point which hasn’t been turned on yet.

Here’s Shane Ross at the Marlay Park facility yesterday……..

There’s only one problem the charging point was installed in May, but is not operational yet.

Minister Ross has since deleted his tweet. He’s also apologised for “jumping the gun” on the government’s new electric car charger announcement.

Apologies to Richard Bruton for jumping the gun on today’s new EV charger announcement!

Here in Marlay Park this new charger is due to be operational in the coming weeks.

There are plans to roll out up to one thousand on-street public charge points for electric cars. The chargers will be spread out across the country over the next five years.

It is part of the government’s target to have 936,000 electric vehicles on Irish Roads by 2030.
