The trailer for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has ‘dropped’ as the kids say ahead of its release in cinemas this June.

In the trailer, we see Michael Bryce (Reynolds) seeking therapy and trying to relax on the beach in a bid to forget about his high-octane life.

After seeing the teaser trailer, it seems fans are suitably excited for the movie, which is a sequel to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard.

A tweet from the film’s official account said: “It’s time to hit it baby one more time. #HitmansWifesBodyguard crashes into theaters June 16.”

The sequel will reunite Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek, with Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman also joining the franchise for round two.

It will follow Michael Bryce (Reynolds) and hitman Darius Kincaid (Jackson) as they embark ‘on another life-threatening mission‘ – presumably, to keep Kincaid’s wife Sonia (Hayek) out of harm’s way.

For the first time, I’m beginning to imagine a life without bodyguarding,” he says in the voiceover, as Britney Spears’ ‘Hit Me Baby (One More Time)’ plays in the background.

Suddenly, Sonia pops up behind him, grabbing Michael with one hand while holding a gun in the other – suggesting his new peaceful life may have been short-lived.

We also get a glimpse of Banderas in action as our new baddie, saying chillingly in a brief clip: “Kill them.”

The film was originally supposed to be with us in August 2020, but like many projects, things had to be pushed back thanks to the global pandemic, with a new date set for August of this year.

But then things changed again – this time for the better – as Lionsgate announced it was bringing the film forward, hitting screens on June 23rd in Ireland.
