Sex Pistols’ guitarist Steve Jones has stated that he has not spoken to former bandmate John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten, since their last tour in 2008.

In a recent interview, Sex Pistols founding member Steve Jones spoke about his estrangement from Rotten.

Back in 2021, former Pistols frontman Lydon had taken his former bandmates to court in an attempt to prevent the band’s music being used in Danny Boyle’s biopic on the band.

Lydon lost this case, but blasted his bandmates for cutting him out of the production process.

“Cutting me out is a shockingly stupid move”, he said. “It’s so ridiculous. It’s so preposterous”.

“They can all f*** off. I supported them for years and years and years, knowing they were dead wood”.

“None of these f**** would have a career but for me”, he added. “They did nothing before, they’ve done nothing since”.

“I was done after that” – Steve Jones

Speaking to the Rockonteurs podcast, Steve Jones revealed that he has not spoken to Lydon since that tour in 2008.

“I haven’t spoken to him in years,” he revealed.

He continued: “2008 was the last time I spoke to him. We did 30 shows around Europe. We did a bunch of festivals and all that, Japan, Australia. We ended up at Hammersmith Odeon, Hammersmith Apollo, and then we had one more show in the Basque country and that was it.”

“I was done after that, no more. Too much. Too old, too much, not enough done”.

Earlier this Summer, Sex Pistols teamed up with singer Frank Carter for two fundraising shows at London’s Bush Hall.

The band performed the Pistols’ classic 1977 album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ in full at these fundraiser events, to “help secure Bush Hall’s musical future, allowing the venue team to focus on bettering in-house facilities, and supporting emerging artists through reigniting their Bush Hall Presents’ programming”.
