From today people will now be able to travel a distance of 5km from their home for exercise.

This has been increased from 2km which was put in place at the end of March.

Those cocooning will also be allowed out for a short walk however are being advised not to go shopping and to keep strict social distancing measures while only going out to get some exercise.

These restrictions will stay in place until May 18th before we see the reopening of our country in five three-week stages.

Speaking at Government Buildings last Friday, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said ‘Our plan is to reopen the country, in a slow, staged, phased way, five stages, three weeks apart, starting on May 18’.
