Former Journey singer Steve Perry has shared his excitement about his upcoming collaboration with Dolly Parton.

The track which is called ‘Open Arms’, will also feature on Parton’s upcoming ‘Rockstar’ album, which will arrive later this year.

Earlier this week, Parton also confirmed the star studded line up for this album, which will include a range over original tracks, along with covers.

Parton will cover classic tracks from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Prince, and Heart among others. The album will also include a reworked version of Elton John’s “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’.

“I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album ‘Rockstar’!”, Parton said when announcing details.

“I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”.

“truly a thrill”

As mentioned, ‘Rockstar’ will also include that collaboration between Steve Perry and Dolly Parton, ‘Open Arms’.

Sharing his excitement over this collaboration, Steve Perry shared this message via Facebook.

“I’m so thrilled that everyone is as excited as I am about Dolly’s new record. I have been a Dolly Parton fan for years and years and to sing one of my songs with her was truly a thrill. When I first got the track I could not believe how strong and amazing her voice was. I did my very best to keep up with that girl, but boy she’s got fire!”, the former Journey singer wrote.

“And to quote her on my telephone she said, ‘I think we harmonize well together, don’t you?’ And I said “Absolutely my dear. Absolutely”, he added.

Last month, Steve Perry spoke to our very own Marty Miller from Marty@Work to explain how another collaboration, which saw him join forces with The High Kings and the Script’s Glen Power came about. Find out more here.
