Iconic Bowie Exhibit Launches In Dublin Next Month
Ebow gallery is set to re-open to the public next month with the gorgeous Irish instalment of the ‘Bowie by Duffy’ exhibition. The show will focus on the relationship between David Bowie and photographer Brian Duffy that created, amongst others, the iconic Aladdin Sane album cover.
Pet Shop Boys Announce Dublin Date
The British electric pop duo are coming to Ireland later this year! Following sold-out concerts in Northern America, Germany, Holland and Denmark, the boys have confirmed they will take to the stage at Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre on Tuesday 5th September. Tickets priced from €59.50 including booking fee will go on sale this Friday.
Bowie Brixton Memorial Plans Halted
Last month we reported that Members of the Brixton Community and Bowie fans were rallying together to try and get a memorial to Bowie built. The organisers behind the plans have now confirmed that they have failed to raise enough money for the project marking the late music icon. The proposed memorial was to be placed on Stansfield Road in Brixton, which is a stone’s throw away from Bowie’s birthplace, and had been designed in consultation with Bowie’s teams in New York and London. It also had the support of Lambeth Council.
List Of Record Store Day 2017 Releases Revealed
The countdown is on for the 10th annual World Record Store Day which is taking place next month and again it promises another treasure trove of exclusive and limited releases. Over 500 releases have been announced to be made exclusively available through independent record shops on Saturday 22 April – on vinyl, picture disc, cassette and much more. David Bowie, Prince, The Cure and The Smiths are some of the artists with special releases set to drop for Record Store Day’s 10th anniversary.
David Bowie – Hunky Dory
Hunky Dory is the fourth album by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, released by RCA Records in 1971. It was his first release through RCA, which would be his label for the next decade. Hunky Dory has been described by Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine as having "a kaleidoscopic array of pop styles, tied together only by Bowie's sense of vision: a sweeping, cinematic mélange of high and low art, ambiguous sexuality, kitsch, and class."
