An Taoiseach Micheal Martin T.D.

The Taoiseach has warned Ireland can’t let its guard down, saying any easing of restrictions next month will be modest.

Any limited easing is based around home construction re-starting, lifting the 5km travel rule and allowing small ‘meet-ups’ outdoors.

Micheál Martin was asked about the matter in the Dáil today:

So you know if we let the guard down quickly and this variant gets control again it’ll spread very rapidly.”

Schools will have fully returned on April 12th, all going well. The Taoiseach also suggested in the Dáil that the next stage of restrictions will last until mid-May:

In the week leading into the 5th (of April), we will have this situation reviewed, we’ll take advice from public health in terms of what we believe is the best way forward for the following six weeks.”
