Tenacious D released a rocking medley of songs from The Who’s 1969 album Tommy.
The band’s take on the album features a mix of classic tracks from the album, including ‘There’s A Doctor’, ‘Go To The Mirror!’, and ‘Pinball Wizard’.
Available digitally, the track will also get a seven inch vinyl release, with profits from the sales going towards Everytown for Gun Safety.
Tenacious D’s cover will also be released with an accompanying music video. This video was directed by long time collaborator of the band, Liam Lynch.
Lynch also directed the band’s 2006 film The Pick Of Destiny.

“Its a humdinger”
On the release of this track, Tenacious D who consist of actor Jack Black and Kyle Gass also released this statement.
“Who better to deliver a tribute to the greatest rock opera of all times? Who? The D! That’s Who!!”, the statement read.
“We’ve been working on this medley for 20 years. It’s finally ready to be unleashed. Crank it. It’s a humdinger. Enjoy”.
2022 is set to be a very busy year for the Tenacious D indeed, with the rock duo set to embark on a North American Tour. The tour kicks off in Colorado on June 16, before starting another leg of the tour on September 9 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Despite not releasing a studio album since 2018, Tenacious D have released singles including ‘Don’t Blow It Kage’, which saw them join forces with Jack White in 2019.
In 2020, the duo also combined with the likes of Susan Sarandon, Sarah Silverman, and Elizabeth Warren and others to cover Rocky Horror Classics ‘Time Warp’ to boost get out the vote efforts.
To celebrate 20 years since the release of their self titled debut album, the band also covered Beatles classics such as ‘The End’, and ”You Never Give Me Your Money’.
On top of this, Tenacious D appear to also being doing a line in cereal bars, which are available via NuGo Nutrition.
