Every day on Radio Nova, just before 11am, we play a couple of songs key to “today in music history” Have a listen! But for now – here’s some light reading and watching. September 21st in Music History looks like this.

1968, Deep Purple arrived in the states with their debut single ‘Hush’, also a hit for Kula Shaker in 1997.

1974, Carl Douglas was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Kung Fu Fighting.’ The song was recorded in 10 minutes, had started out as a B-side and went on to sell over 10 million and made Douglas a One Hit Wonder.

1980, During a North American tour, Bob Marley collapsed while jogging in New York’s Central Park. Marley played his last ever concert two nights later in Pittsburg.

1992, Parlophone Records released ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. It came out as their debut single.

2021, The Rolling Stones were out for the first time playing a private party for the owner of NFL team The Patriots.

Of course, Charlie got lots of love.

Birthdays today include, from 1934, Leonard Cohen, 1947, Don Felder, guitar, vocals, The Eagles and from 1972, Liam Gallagher.
