U2 are tipped for Oscar glory later this year.
Days after picking up a Golden Globe for their song ‘Ordinary Love’ from the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom movie, Bono & Co are now expected to win an Academy Award for the track.
The nominations were unveiled earlier today, with Irish eyes also on Michael Fassbander, who’s up for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his role in 12 Years a Slave.
Other songs nominated in the ‘Best Original Song’ category are from the movies Her, Despicable Me 2, Frozen and Alone Not Yet Alone.
The Academy Awards will take place on March 2nd.
U2’s new album is due out this summer, with the first single expected in a matter of weeks.
