A British intelligence agency says Russian actors are trying to launch cyber-attacks on organisations working on a coronavirus vaccine.
The National Cyber Security Centre says a group called APT29 – also known as “the Dukes” or “Cozy Bear” – is trying to steal “valuable intellectual property.”
The agency warns this “malicious activity” is “almost certainly” backed by Russia’s intelligence services.
According to The Guardian, British officials would not comment if any of the attacks had been successful in their aim of obtaining medical secrets.
“They stressed, however, that none of the vaccine research had been compromised as a result.”
