Simona Halep is into her third French Open Final. The women’s number one seed and last year’s beaten finalist has beaten Garbine Muguruza in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. Halep secured the battle for the world No 1 crown, after defeating Garbine Muguruza in a relentless French Open semi-final.

After complete domination of Muguruza, the Romanian had to work hard in the second set, recovering from a shaky 2-4 down. The ninth game proved pivotal for Halep. Having broken Muguruza’s serve to level at 4-all, enduring three break points to survive. It was a huge turning point and she took advantage by breaking Muguruza’s serve to love to clinch the match.
Halep finished with 24 unforced errors and 16 winners and to Muguruza’s 14 and 31.
