Manic Street Preachers have launched a video for an acoustic version of Dylan & Caitlin featuring guest vocals from The Anchoress aka Catherine Anne Davies. The original version of the song will appear on the Welsh outfit’s upcoming album Resistance Is Futile, which is due for release on April 13.
James Dean Bradfield explained that the track is a ‘conversation between [poet] Dylan and his partner Caitlin Thomas at the apex of their alcohol soaked relationship.’
Bass player Nicky Wire added,
‘The story itself rolls through their relationship [filled with] drinking, fighting and ended up broken by America.The conversational nature of the lyrics lent themselves to a duet so we asked Catherine to provide the female perspective. She’s a hugely talented kindred spirit.’
Bradfield takes on the role of Thomas for the track and Caitlin is represented by Welsh songwriter The Anchoress.
