Weezer have at long last announced the forthcoming release of ‘The Black Album’. The group have also shared the album’s lead single ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’. The accompanying video for the track stars Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz. It’s streaming below.

The first update on this new album came from frontman Rivers Cuomo in February 2017. The album was originally meant to be a follow-up to April 2016’s ‘The White Album’. Alternatively, Weezer decided to release ‘Pacific Daydream’ in October of 2017. This paused the production of their latest album.

Speaking to the NME last year, Rivers Cuomo, described the record as being “darker” and “more experimental and wildly negative”. He also spoke of a change in direction to their sound, “It’s experimenting with more modern electronic elements. It has one foot in the future and one foot in the past. The foot in the past would be like The Jesus & Mary Chain.”

Today’s announcement of ‘The Black Album’ has been driven by the release of its lead 45, ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’. The new music is produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek. The upbeat track’s video features Wentz as a Lyft driver undergoing the worst shift of his career.
