The Affidea Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half-Marathon is known for putting local bands and live entertainment along the course to encourage runners as they make their way to the finish line.

They have announced today that Lucan’s The Riptide Movement will headline the Finish Line Concert in the Phoenix Park on Sunday August 13th.

For all you none runners out there, you’ll be happy to know, the finish line festival is free and open to the public.

Along with the Riptide Movement, live bands of every genre will play along the race course entertaining and encouraging runners as they make their way to the finish line.

“It’s been an amazing two years since we released our third studio album Getting through with so many highs to recall – from our first # 1 Gold selling album, to touring the UK, Europe and Australia – it has really been an incredible journey for us’, says vocalist and guitarist Mal Tuohy. “And we are seriously excited about the year ahead, promoting the release of Ghosts and touring it around Europe and further afield.”

He added, “One of the gigs we’re most looking forward to is The Affidea Rock ‘n’ Roll Headline Concert in August. That sounds like a great event and we’re delighted to be part of it.”

The 5th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half Marathon will return the weekend of 12-13 August 2017 and serves as the Irish National Half Marathon Championships.

The race starts in the heart of Dublin at the Docklands, runs along the River Liffey, travelling past many of the city’s historic landmarks, and finishing in the scenic Phoenix Park. The race course will be dotted with live bands, cheer teams and entertaining water stations along the way.

“With nearly 15,000 participants and two days of running, 2017 will be our largest year ever.  We are thrilled to have The Riptide Movement headlining our finish line concert,” said Stacey Campbell, Vice President of Global Events for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. “The Affidea Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin has something for everyone with a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Family Fun Run. We invite runners, music lovers and anyone in Dublin to come enjoy what is sure to be a brilliant weekend.”

It will be a busy summer for The Riptide Movement; they’ve already been confirmed to play Indiependence in Cork this August, and Vantastival in June at Beaulieu House & Gardens in County Louth.
