A woman’s weekly payday treat of buying a scratch card with her Friday cup of coffee proved to be worth its weight in platinum with a massive €50,000 win!

A Romanian lady living and working in Dublin for the past few years, could not believe her luck. She revealed in the National Lottery Winner’s Room today that she is going to put her new-found windfall to good use – towards a mortgage for a house.

Speaking on her win the woman said:

“It is my payday treat every Friday before I go into work. I buy the same All Cash Platinum scratch card and scratch it while I have my coffee. I could not believe it when I realised I had won €50,000. My partner and I had been saving for a deposit for a mortgage.”

Sitting with her partner in the National Lottery Winner’s Room, he explained: “Ideally we would love to buy a house close to where we are renting but because of prices we had accepted that we would eventually have to buy a little further away. Now with this win maybe we can still buy somewhere close to where we are now and stay in Dublin”.

The winner bought her magic scratch card in the Spar shop on Nassau Street, Dublin 2. The winner bought her magic scratch card in the Spar shop on Nassau Street, Dublin 2.

Tomorrow’s EuroMillions jackpot is a massive €45m.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games go back to Good Causes. These funds are transferred to the national Exchequer and are used to finance expenditure by various Government Departments on projects in the area of Health, Youth, Sports, Arts, Culture, Heritage and the Irish Language. Last year alone over €226 million was raised by the National Lottery and its players for Good Causes all over Ireland, equating to about €616,000 per day.
