X-Men: New Cast Announced
Marvel has finally revealed the cast of its highly anticipated new X-Men movie, with some of Hollywood's biggest names set to take on the iconic mutant characters.
The announcement was made during Disney's D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in California, where Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the main cast for the upcoming film.
The new X-Men movie is set to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2028 and will introduce a new generation of mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Christopher Abbott will take on the role of Professor Charles Xavier, while Inde Navarrette will play Rogue.
Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, following her previously confirmed casting in the role.
The Stranger Things star will be joined by Kit Connor, who has been cast as Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.
Maya Boyd has been cast as Storm, while Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost.
And there is a particularly major name joining the cast as one of the film's villains.
Adam Driver has been cast as Mister Sinister, also known as Nathaniel Essex.
The character is a genetically obsessed scientist and one of the X-Men's most famous villains, although the upcoming film will mark the character's live-action movie debut.
The new cast will be stepping into roles previously made famous by stars including Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, James Marsden and Hugh Jackman in the earlier X-Men films.
The upcoming movie will be directed by Jake Schreier, with the screenplay written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. Schreier, Sung Jin and Calo previously worked together on Marvel's Thunderbolts and Netflix's Beef.
The casting announcement has been one of the biggest reveals from this year's D23 event, particularly after years of speculation about how Marvel would bring the X-Men into the MCU following Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

The first hints of this new era have already begun to appear, with Sadie Sink's Jean Grey set to make her MCU debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Kevin Feige explained at D23 that the character's inclusion in that film came naturally as the story developed.
The new X-Men cast was just one of the huge announcements made during Disney's entertainment showcase.
Fans were also treated to major updates on Frozen 3, including new footage and music, while Disney confirmed Incredibles 3, Coco 2 and Zootopia 3.
The event also brought news of the live-action Tangled, Lilo & Stitch 2 and the Bluey Movie, while Ryan Gosling was confirmed to star in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter.

There was also a new trailer and release date for Ahsoka Season 2, as well as further Marvel news including updates surrounding Avengers: Doomsday and the upcoming VisionQuest series.
But for Marvel fans, the X-Men announcement was undoubtedly one of the biggest moments of the entire event.
After years of waiting to see the iconic mutants properly integrated into the MCU, fans now have their first full line-up of the new generation.
And with Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Inde Navarrette, Maya Boyd, Samara Weaving and Adam Driver leading the cast, Marvel is bringing some serious star power to the next chapter of the X-Men story.
