On Friday October 28th Morning Glory’s PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe went #UpTheHill22 for Jack and Jill!
Dee Woods followed the Morning Glory due and crowds came out in force along the 30km #Hilloween route as the lads made their way from Hill 16, Croke Park cycling on a bicycle made for two, passing many beauty spots and Circle K stores in Martello, Dalkey, Beechwood and finishing up in Wicklow at Bray Head all in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation’s 8th annual #UptheHill Challenge.
All funds raised will be used to support local Jack and Jill families and empower parents to care for their sick child at home in communities across Ireland.
Speaking of their completion of the Hilloween Challenge, PJ and Jim said, “What a heart-warming boost to see so many people out in force and supporting a great cause! The level of support has restored our faith in the kindness of people, and we hope that the funds raised can help Jack and Jill provide much-needed support for the amazing families under their care across Ireland, who have such an uphill challenge to climb each and every day as they care for their child at home, who has such complex medical needs. It’s incredible how much a campaign like this can change lives. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us today, and if you haven’t already, go to the Jack and Jill website and see how you can get involved.”
CEO of Jack and Jill, Carmel Doyle said: “Well done to PJ and Jim who put their pedals to the metal and took on multiple hills on their cycle today, in solidarity with our 400 Jack and Jill families who face their own uphill challenge every day. And thanks to all the Jack and Jill supporters who cheered them on.
“The tremendous support of the Radio Nova team helps us to provide crucial in-home nursing care and respite for children with complex medical conditions, right across the country. It’s not too late to support PJ and Jim’s Hilloween fundraiser – and every donation makes a real difference to local families. If you’re inspired to take on your own Up the Hill challenge, however big or small, check out www.jackandjill.ie. One small step by you makes one big difference for our families.”
The nationwide charity reached its own summit in 2022 by providing support to 412 children, the highest number in its 25-year history. To meet this steep care commitment, Jack and Jill is asking people in every county to support local families in their community by going ‘Up the Hill for Jack and Jill’. Jack and Jill’s mission is to empower parents to care for their very sick child at home in communities across Ireland, because for a Jack and Jill child, there is no care like home care for a Jack and Jill child.
Last year’s Hill to Hill challenge won Gold in the Community / Social Action Award at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards 2022.
