Following the closure of pubs as a result of Covid 19, one of Dublin’s oldest pubs, Byrnes of Galloping Green, is now offering its local customers a new click and collect, drive-thru off licence.

With the aim of providing an easy and efficient service, this drive-thru is contact free with all payments made online through their new website GallopingGreen.ie and the orders will be dropped directly to the boot of customers’ cars upon arrival.

The pub, which was established in 1879, has been owned and managed by the same family for the last four generations, with current owner and manager Ray Byrne being the great grandson of Philip Byrne who built and ran the pub when it first opened in the late 1800s.

Keeping to its traditional style, GallopingGreen.ie offers popular beers, spirits and wines.

Ray Byrne, owner of Byrnes of Galloping Green said: “With the country in the grip of a pandemic and pubs all over the country closed while everyone is required to remain indoors, we were forced to rethink our business model. We have been here over 140 years and pride ourselves on our traditional style of business so it had never occurred to us to offer a completely digital, contact free service before now. Like so many businesses across Ireland and the world, we have been hit hard, having to suddenly close our doors and cease trading completely. It has been extremely worrying and unsettling for not only myself but also for my family, my employees and my loyal customers. I’m hoping that this will be a way to open our doors again for our customers, albeit in a more distant way! Above all stay home, stay safe and we will all come through this together.”
