Gardai have warned that boy racers are using James Bond-style retractable licence plates to get out of paying tolls and speeding fines.
The devices – which allow drivers to click a button and hide their plate – are being bought online for as little as €70 and installed on cars.
The Irish Examiner reports that there’s been a rise in antisocial behaviour involving such devices in rural areas.
