Many employees are reporting frustration at the high number of video meetings for work.

The use of apps such as Zoom, and Microsoft Teams has significantly increased since the start of the pandemic.

Citigroup has moved to announce that it is going to introduce ‘Zoom Free-Fridays‘ to help reduce pressure on staff.

Remote working during the pandemic is said to be taking enormous toll on staff health and mental wellbeing.

Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser in a company memo said its unsustainable.

I know from your feedback and my own experience, the blurring of lines between home and work and the relentlessness of the pandemic workday have taken a toll on our wellbeing.”

Citigroup employs around 10,000 staff in Ireland. The banking organisation also said that post-pandemic, a majority of the roles at the bank would be designated as “Hybrid”, allowing employees to work from the office at least three days a week and from home for up to two days a week.

Last week, an internal survey at Goldman Sachs circulated online showed junior bankers were working an average of 95 hours a week.
