Donald Trump’s Facebook account has been suspended indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks, until he leaves office.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, confirmed the news today by way of statement in the wake of the obscene events in Washington DC yesterday.
Facebook initially suspended Trump’s account, amid concerns that the President’s comments about the storming of the Capitol by insurgents would incite further violence.
The social media tool has helped Trump spread his message to supporters, all the while fueling messages of intolerance to voters.
We believe the risks of allowing President Trump to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great, so we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks. pic.twitter.com/JkyGOTYB1Z
