A number of GAA Athletes have gathered today at the Ballyfermot Sports and Fitness Centre to call for a NO vote in the upcoming Referendum.  The group will release a series of videos over the coming month giving their reasons to save the 8th.

The launch is being attended by Joe Sheridan, Micky Harte, Joe Sheridan (Meath), Patrick Gallagher (Antrim), Aoife Cassidy (Derry) and Anne-Marie McDonagh (Galway Ladies Football).

In a statement ‘GAA Athletes for a NO vote’ have said they will, ‘conduct a skills training session for local children this afternoon, followed by a press availability and the reading out of an official statement thereafter.’

The GAA as an organisation has said they will remain neutral on the issue of the 8th Amendment. Referendum campaigning on the is set to increase over the next few weeks and many more sports stars may choose  to express their views on the matter.

And finally, this weekend Radio Nova is making radio history. Nova is the first Irish radio station to team up with Shazam, the world’s leading music discovery app and they’re giving listeners a chance to win tickets to the Rolling Stones. Once Nova plays a Rolling Stones track across the weekend listeners are encouraged to ‘Shazam’ it and click to win tickets.
