A new report suggests Irish gym goers pay some of the highest rates in Europe for their membership. The study by Deloitte, reveals that last year fitness fanatics paid an average of €49 a month in fees, behind only Switzerland at €66. It’s being put down to rental rates in Irish cities as the cost of retail space in this country is also one of the highest in Europe.

According to the Examiner, The report also shows the expense of membership is the main reason people do not use the gym. Europe is the largest fitness market around the globe, valued at over €26bn. The high price here is being put down to rental rates in Irish cities – as the cost of retail space in this country is also one of the highest in Europe.
