The Taoiseach says Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions will continue into February.
Addressing the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party last night he said coronavirus transmission numbers were “still too high”.
Yesterday The Department of Health was notified of 2,488 new cases and 61 more deaths from Covid 19 in Ireland.
NPHET will meet later today to consider the current situation, and Cabinet will make a final decision on restrictions next Tuesday.
