Status Red Snow And Ice Weather Warning Lifted

The status red snow and ice warning has been lifted in the east of the country and an orange warning is now in place for Munster, Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan.

A yellow warning has been issued for Connacht and Donegal.

Eastern counties are still on alert this morning after heavy snow overnight, there are now risks of flooding as the snow melts

Gardaí are advising drivers not to make any unnecessary journeys as many roads remain dangerous until they are cleared of snow.

The Coast Guard and the RNLI are again warning people to be aware of high tides and heavy seas this weekend.

It follows an incident yesterday, where passers-by pulled a swimmer to safety from stormy seas at Sandycove in Dublin.
