Tragic Cyclist Dies From Injuries After Hit and Run on North Wall Quay

A 28-year-old delivery cyclist who sustained significant head injuries in a hit-and-run incident on Monday night in Dublin has died in hospital this morning.

The Irish Independent reports that Brazilian national Thiago Osorio Cortes passed away after his life support machine was switched off at the Mater Hospital.

Store Street gardaí have now ramped up their investigation following the incident on North Wall Quay at around 10.30pm on Monday.

Gardaí say the cyclist was struck by the car that was then driven away, leaving the victim seriously injured.

A car believed to have been involved was parked up nearby at Castleforbes Square. The scene was examined by forensic investigators as the road was closed off .

Store Street Gardaí have now formally appealed for witnesses and drivers with dash-cam footage to come forward.

They are appealing in particular to anyone who was in North Wall Quay, North Wall Avenue, East Wall Road, Sheriff Street Upper, Castleforbes Road or Castleforbes Square between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Monday night to make contact.
