People could soon live on Henry Street in Dublin city centre once again.

Planning permission is being sought for eight apartments on the busy northside shopping street with an application submitted by German property investment company Institutional Investment Partners GmbH as reported by the Irish Times.

It would consist of two studios, five one bed apartments and one two bed. 42–43 Henry Street has been an single complex since the 1950s, and is currently vacant.

The applicant’s planning consultants, Savills, said the proposed scheme would bring the vacant upper floors back into productive use and provide sustainable residential development in line with the 15 Minute City principles.

Savills said, “The proposed development will provide much needed residential units in the heart of Dublin whilst preserving the character and appearance of the surrounding area.” “It is recognized that the proposed development will have a positive impact on the surrounding area and will contribute to the ongoing regeneration of this part of Dublin.”
