Met Éireann is forecasting a few very warm days across the region, with Wednesday and Thursday expected to bring the highest temperatures.

The national forecaster is predicting temperatures of up to 28°C on Wednesday, with the highest temperatures expected in north Leinster.

Thursday could be even warmer, with highs of 28°C or 29°C again expected in Leinster.

There will also be some good spells of sunshine during the week. However, it will not be completely dry, with some showers expected at times.

Temperatures in the capital are expected to reach between 18°C and 20°C today, with light winds.

Tonight will stay dry with some clear spells. Temperatures will fall to between 11°C and 15°C.

Tuesday will then bring a noticeable rise in temperatures. Dublin is expected to have a warm and dry day, with good spells of sunshine.

Temperatures could reach between 23°C and 26°C in the capital, with a moderate southerly breeze.

The warmest conditions are expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday will bring spells of sunshine to the east and southeast, including Leinster. There may also be a few showers.

Temperatures across Ireland will range from 20°C to 28°C, with the highest temperatures expected in north Leinster.

Thursday will bring another warm or hot day. There will be sunny spells and some further showers, although these are expected to be more common in the west and northwest.

Despite the high temperatures, Met Éireann is not currently forecasting another heatwave.

The latest outlook suggests that the weather will become cooler towards the end of the week.

Temperatures are expected to fall back closer to average levels by the weekend, with highs of between 17°C and 22°C expected on Saturday.

There will still be some sunny spells over the weekend, along with scattered showers.
