Troy Parrott could be in line to make his La Liga debut on Tuesday night, with the Republic of Ireland striker expected to be included in the Real Betis squad for their trip to Valencia.
The 24-year-old completed his move to the Spanish club last week but was not part of the matchday squad for Friday’s 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad.
However, Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed at his press conference on Monday morning that Parrott is set to travel with the team for their clash against Valencia at the Mestalla.
Parrott took part in training with his new teammates on Monday morning at the club’s Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol training ground in Seville as he continues to settle into life at Betis.
The Dublin-born forward joined the Spanish side from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in a deal reportedly worth around €20 million. He has signed a five-year contract with Betis, keeping him at the club until 2031.
The move represents another significant step in Parrott’s career, with the striker now set to compete in one of Europe’s top leagues. His arrival also comes at an exciting time for Betis, who secured a fifth-place finish in La Liga last season.
That result means the club will compete in the Champions League during the 2026/27 campaign, with European football understood to have been an important factor in Parrott’s decision to make the move to Seville.
Parrott spent just over two years with AZ Alkmaar after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, where he came through the club’s academy. During his time in the Netherlands, he also enjoyed a successful loan spell with fellow Dutch side Excelsior Rotterdam.
His move to Betis marks a return to a major European league and provides the Ireland international with the opportunity to establish himself in Spanish football.
