Movie fans across Dublin can catch a film on the big screen for just €4 this weekend as National Cinema Weekend takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September.
Participating cinemas across the county will offer tickets from €4 throughout the weekend, giving audiences the chance to see new releases, family favourites and classic films at a reduced price.
National Cinema Weekend is supported by Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland and is taking place in cinemas across the Republic of Ireland, with approximately 99% of cinemas expected to participate.
The initiative follows the huge success of previous National Cinema Days, which saw more than 200,000 admissions in a single day. This year, the industry has extended the event to a full weekend, giving people more opportunities to see multiple films at a discounted price.

Tickets went on sale from 5pm on Sunday 30 August, with audiences advised to check individual cinema listings for exact prices, screening times and availability.

There will be plenty to choose from over the weekend, including new releases and special preview screenings.
Films showing include The Incomer, starring Domhnall Gleeson, Bad Apples, starring Saoirse Ronan, The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, Insidious: Out Of The Further, Coyote vs. Acme and I Want Your Sex, starring Olivia Wilde.
There will also be a selection of Irish films and documentaries, including Celtic Utopia, Everybody Digs Bill Evans, The Quiet Girl / An Cailín Ciúin, Báite and Sanitorium.
For anyone looking for a classic or a family film, re-releases will include The Lobster, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Cars and The Hunger Games saga.
There will also be additional screenings for diverse audiences, including sensory screenings and subtitled and captioned screenings at selected cinemas.
The weekend will also mark ten years since The Young Offenders was released, with the Irish comedy being brought back to cinemas to celebrate the anniversary.
Alex Murphy and Chris Walley, who starred in the film, said they were looking forward to celebrating the weekend by seeing as many films as possible.
"We think there’s nothing like the magic of going to the movies. The shared communal experience of enjoying films as they were meant to be seen – on the big screen with a captive audience, is one of our favourite things to do."
Désirée Finnegan, Chief Executive of Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland, said the organisation was proud to support the event and hoped audiences would use the weekend to discover new Irish stories.
With schools now back and a wide range of films on offer, National Cinema Weekend could be a good opportunity for families, friends and film fans to make the most of the big screen for less.
