Gardaí are investigating a petrol bomb attack at a home in Drimnagh in south Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
The fire at the house on Benmadigan Road was extinguished by personnel from Dublin Fire Brigade.
A man in his 20s was taken to St James’s Hospital as a precaution following the incident. No further details about his condition have been released.
Detectives suspect the attack may be the latest violent incident linked to an ongoing feud between two street drug-dealing gangs in south Dublin.
There have been a number of violent incidents in the area in recent weeks, including shootings and rammings in Inchicore, Bluebell and Crumlin.
Two other petrol bomb attacks have also taken place at homes in Inchicore and Ballyfermot in recent weeks. No one was injured in those attacks.
The latest incident has prompted further concern among local representatives, with the chairperson of the Dublin South Central Community Safety Partnership describing the violence as “spiralling” and “unacceptable”.
They said the ongoing violence was holding the wider community “to ransom”.
Sinn Féin councillor Daithí Doolan has also called for action to tackle the violence. He said a plan was needed to address the ongoing incidents and that he would be writing to senior Gardaí and the Minister for Justice.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the petrol bomb attack on Benmadigan Road.
Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact Gardaí.
