Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was found "covered in blood" at the side of a motorway on the N7.

This happened after Gardaí were called to the scene, after a man had been spotted by a motorist outside Naas, Co Kildare on September 27. The man had suffered injuries to his face, body, and arms, and claimed he had been assaulted with iron bars.

However, the victim refused to make a statement to Gardaí, or say where they had been attacked.

Gardaí suspect that the victim, who is from the south inner city are of the capital, was attacked at a different location before being dumped in Co Kildare. They are also trying to establish the injured man's background and if he was under any type of threat.

Having been taken to hospital, it has been reported that he remains there as this investigation continues, The Irish Sun has reported.

A source told the outlet: “The man was in a very distressed state and the motorist did the right thing in raising the alarm.

“The victim confirmed he was assaulted but refused to say anything else to Gardai or to make a complaint", they added. "He was covered in blood and Gardai are hoping they can uncover more information about this incident".

Naas Garda Station are heading up this investigation.

An Garda Síochána have yet to comment on this incident.
