The Na Fianna player had last featured for Dublin in the 2022 Leinster Senior Hurling Championship before returning to the starting team under Niall Ó Ceallacháin.
Rushe started at centre half-back in Dublin's Leinster final defeat to Galway, marking another chapter in his long career with the county.
His season came to an end last weekend when Na Fianna were beaten by Cuala in the Dublin senior hurling semi-final.

He was later on punditry duty with TG4 for Sunday's Offaly Senior Hurling Championship final between Kilcormac-Killoughey and Ballinamere.
Following Kilcormac-Killoughey's 0-19 to 0-17 victory, Rushe confirmed that he would not be returning to the Dublin squad.
“Sin mo rás rite ag an leibhéal idir chontae,” he said, meaning that his race at inter-county level was run.

Rushe made his Dublin debut as a teenager in 2009 under manager Anthony Daly and became a key figure during a memorable period for the capital's hurlers.
He helped Dublin win the National Hurling League in 2011 before securing a Leinster Senior Hurling Championship title in 2013.
His retirement brings an end to a distinguished inter-county career spanning more than 15 years, including his return to the Dublin panel last season.
