Aerosmith have announced two comeback shows, three years after cancelling their farewell tour due to frontman Steven Tyler's larynx injury.
Tyler's injury also saw Aerosmith forced to cancel a huge residency at the Park MGM Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
Aerosmith announced in 2024 that they had stepped away from touring, as Tyler continued to battle with a vocal chord injury.
“Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision—as a band of brothers—to retire from the touring stage", they said at the time.
But now, Aerosmith have announced shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on 29 October and 1 November, which will see them perform on stage with Run-DMC, the Black Crowes, Heart, Andrew Watt, Sammy Hagar, Billy Idol, Eric Church, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, Slash and Tom Morello among others, according to reports in Rolling Stone.
These shows are titled, California, Dream On: Aerosmith and Friends.
The concerts were announced on the band's website, with the following statement being released.
"Even more artists, special guests, and surprise appearances will be announced in the weeks ahead," the concert announcement says, while "promising unforgettable collaborations and unexpected moments across both nights.
"The lineup will vary each night. Final nightly lineups will be announced at or near showtime and are subject to change". (Quotes according to MusicNews.com).
In June last year, Aerosmith guitarist and founding member, Joe Perry did hint that the band may reunite for one final show.
“We’re talking about it", Perry said in an interview with Sirius XM’s Trunk Nation, “I mean, except for like, anything on the calendar, we’re all alive and well, so, you know, we’ll just have to see, you know? I know there’s gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I’m not looking forward to putting the set list together for that one, but I don’t know, man. We’ll just have to see".
