Gardaí are out in force from this morning to underpin the new Level 5 restrictions which are now in place nationwide in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.
The restrictions will be in place for six weeks until December 1st.
People are not allowed travel 5km from their home apart from some exceptions.
All non-essential retail is closed, with pubs, restaurants, and cafes restricted to take-away only.
Schools, creches, and construction remain open.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said: “The public health advice is clear. This will help save lives.”
“In particular, we would ask people to think about their journeys and not exercise or travel outside the 5km limit unless it meets the essential criteria.”
