Army personnel and Gardaí are both in attendance at the scene of a series of lootings in the Tallaght area this evening.
It is reported a group of people stole a JCB, and proceeded to break entry into a Lidl using the digger and taking a safe.
Videos of the shocking footage has been uploaded online by several members of the public, as it depicts the digger tearing down the roof of the store and side wall.
Footage also shows that the digger is being used in an effort to break open the safe.
However, reports of the Lidl located on Fortunestown Lane being set alight are false.
Gardaí have said they are attending a number of looting scenes in the Tallaght district as it is widely reported that both a Centra and a pharmacy have also been targeted.
