A coffee shop similar to the Amsterdam’s finest emporiums has been given the approval to reopen in Waterford City. That’s after it was shut by Gardaí last month.

Blooms Cafe is a purveyor of cannabis products as well as serving and selling hemp teas that fall below the legal 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) limit. The products contain high levels of the non-psychoactive, cannabidiol (CBD), for relaxation and the relief of stress.

The Times Ireland Edition reported that Gardaí confiscated a number of products for laboratory tests in October, leading to a temporary closure of the coffee shop. On a Facebook post, the people behind the cafe announced that they were very close to shutting permanently. Now, Blooms has announced they will be reopening this weekend.

“Blooms Bud is back! At last! After a long and painful 5 weeks that almost resulted in permanent closure of our lovely little cafe – more on this later – we are elated to be able to back our beautiful CBD hemp flowers/buds.”

CBD is a legal alternative to marijuana with claims it is beneficial for a range of health problems — from epilepsy to pain, anxiety to sleep difficulties.
