A motorcyclist has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Chapelizod, Dublin, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The man, who was aged in his 50s, was fatally injured in the crash on the R109 near Rugged Lane, close to Strawberry Beds.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 4.30am. The motorcyclist was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The road remains closed between the R121 (Tinkers Hill) and Rugged Lane while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination. Local traffic diversions are currently in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who was travelling in the area around the time of the collision.
Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are also being asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
