CAB Raids Crumlin Biker Gang's Compound

A heavily fortified compound in Crumlin has been raided by the Criminal Assets Bureau. Assisted by the Garda Emergency Response Unit, Air Support Unit, Armed Support Unit and the Customs Dog Unit, CAB cut through sheet metal gates and fencing to access the compound which is the stronghold of a Dublin biker gang.

Biker Gang

The gang, styling themselves “The Chosen Few” provided an escort to the funeral cortege of David Byrne, the man murdered in The Regency Hotel, as part of the deadly Kinahan-Hutch feud. The biker gang is now minus 10 motorbikes. Gardaí also seized a BMW car, a Ford 4×4 and a Volkswagen. €4000 in cash was also removed from the premises.

Arrests

Two men, a father and son, were arrested after the raid, on suspicion of money laundering. They are being held for questioning at two separate Garda stations. They can be held without charge for up to 24 hours.

Criminal Gangs

The Gardaí say that the raid was part of ongoing investigations targetting criminal gangs involved in drug trafficking and organised crime in Dublin city and nationally. Crumlin and Drimnagh, both working-class areas on the city’s Southside, have seen more than their fair share of violence and organised crime. Today’s raid is just one of many that have occurred in the area.
