Covid-19 has forced a second building site in Dublin City Centre to close. A worker at the TU Dublin east quad site has contracted the virus.

The developer, John Sisk and Son, has closed the site for deep cleaning.

The East Quad site in Grangegorman – a joint venture set up between John Sisk & Son and Spanish construction company FCC – has been shut down.

In a statement, a spokesman for John Sisk & Son/FCC said: “There is a single case of Covid-19 among one of the workforce on the Grangegorman East Quad site and the site has temporarily shut down for deep cleaning.

“The team are working with the HSE to follow all the protocols.”

SIPTU Construction Organiser John Regan has been in touch with the company. ”I’m awaiting confirmation from the company with regard to what tracibility has been done on the current case that they are dealing with. So, when I know a bit more about that, we’ll be able to possibly alleviate the concerns for other sites.”
