US President Donald Trump has called for a "major investigation" into Bruce Springsteen and other musicians who supported Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.
This comes the singer had made a number of scathing remarks about the Trump administration while live on stage in Manchester last week, as part of his ongoing tour with the E Street Band. In these rants, Springsteen who has been a long time critic of Mr Trump, blasted the "corruption" and "incompetence" of his "treasonous administration".
“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration. Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!", Springsteen told the audience at Manchester's Co-Up Live.
He also said: “There’s some very weird, strange, and dangerous s*** going on out there right now. In America they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now". Find out more here.
This prompted Mr Trump to hit out at Springsteen, calling the singer a "dried out prune of a rocker", and an "overrated musician".
"Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country", Trump said of Springsteen.
Now, Donald Trump has called for an investigation to be carried out regarding Springsteen, alleging that the singer was paid by Kamala Harris for his “POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT” and asked, “ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION?”.
Posting on his Truth social platform, Mr Trump also called out musicians Bono and Beyoncé over their support of Mrs Harris.
“HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?,” Trump wrote. “WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO???", Trump wrote.
“I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment. In addition, this was a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. IT’S NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic “entertainers,” this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!”.
