The IFI French Film Festival returns to Dublin this November with its biggest and most ambitious programme yet — and for anyone who loves French cinema, this year’s edition is packed with reasons to book early. Running for 12 days and featuring 34 films, including 22 Irish premieres, the festival marks its 26th year by celebrating everything from restored classics and major international stars to family-friendly animation and bold new voices in contemporary filmmaking.
For audiences planning their visit, the line-up is shaped with accessibility in mind: a wide spread of genres, screenings throughout the day, and a mix of in-person events, Q&As, and a small collection of titles available at home through the IFI’s on-demand platform. Crucially, many of these films will only screen once in Ireland, making it one of the few opportunities to catch them on the big screen.

For those who prefer watching from home, seven titles will also be made available for a limited time through the IFI’s streaming platform. These include RIDE AWAY, THAT SUMMER IN PARIS, WE BELIEVE YOU, THE MUSICIANS, LA JETÉE, THE FIFTH SHOT, L’AVENTURA, and SAVE OUR SOULS.
Festival Director Marie-Pierre Richard said: “This year’s programme reaffirms cinema’s vitality in contemporary culture. We have 22 Irish premieres and a number of exciting one-off special events, showcasing both established and fresh new talents.”
IFI Director Ross Keane added: “Each year, this festival brings Irish audiences remarkable stories that cross borders and perspectives. We are proud to continue strengthening cultural connections between Ireland and France.”
Tickets are now on sale: €15 for standard screenings, €18 for the opening night (including a reception), and discounted multi-film packages for IFI Members (5 films for €65 or 10 for €110). A membership — €1.50 daily or €40 annually — is required for all in-cinema screenings.
