Last week Cameron posted to Instagram to announce his departure from Pearl Jam after being a member of the band for 27 years. He states that he will forever be grateful for the crew, staff and fans all over the world and that it has been an "incredible journey." At the time of this post, Cameron did not mention the state of his career and what steps he will take after his exit from the band.

Fans have since been speculating whether the drummer will retire, as fans have commented on social media noting that he is 62 and that he said on a few occasions that the 45+ years of drumming is finally catching up with him.
However, Sunday night saw the ex-drummer take to Instagram stories to put the rumours to rest and to announce that it is only his time with Pearl Jam that is over and his career in the music industry is not yet over. He wrote on the Instagram story, "Thank you for the kind words of support and for the record, I'm still an active musician."
Although Cameron has yet to announce what his next move is. There has been multiple theories from fans guessing what his next step will be, with some saying he will join the Foo Fighters as they have recently parted ways with their drummer Josh Freese, read more on Nova here. The Foo Fighters have yet to announce who will be replacing Freese, so there could still be hope for any fans that want to see Cameron join the Foos.
The biggest theory is that Soundgarden will finish their album and go on tour. As Cameron recently reunited with his bandmates Kim Thayil and Ben Shepard last December for a benefit show in Seattle. It is still unclear whether or not Soundgarden will be finishing this album, however they will be accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
