Foo Fighters have released a cover of Minor Threat's punk song 'I Don't Wanna Hear It' which was recorded across three decades.

According to the bands YouTube, the instruments were recorded in 1995 with the vocals later recorded earlier this year. The band are celebrating their 30th anniversary with this punk cover song and a music video that includes photographs and memories of their 30 years as a band, the music video also includes snaps of the late drummer Taylor Hawkins. The band are treating their fans with exclusive content as they have published their stories behind each of their 11 studio albums onto SubStack.

The drums that feature on the punk cover were recorded by David Grohl in 1995. In the early days Grohl was not only a vocalist and guitarist, as he played bass and drums, recording majority of their first album by himself. Although it is not explicitly stated, it is reasonable to assume that Grohl recorded all of the instruments of the punk cover by himself, like what he has done for the Foo Fighters songs.

The 'I Don't Want To Hear It' cover is the first piece of recorded music the band has released since their album 'But Here We Are' in 2023. Since the release of this album, the band have experienced a certain amount of controversy. Most notably Grohl sharing that he has become a father for a fourth time, outside of his marriage with Jordyn Blum. The musician released this statement shortly after the birth of his fourth child, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”  Read more on Nova.ie

Also a notable mention of the bands controversy is the their parting of ways with drummer Josh Freese. The drummer replaced the late Taylor Hawkins, however after only two years of playing with the band they fire him. Freese said that the band informed him that they decided to go in a different direction and that he felt as if "the news came out of the blue." More on this here.

Foo Fighters will return to the stage, without Freese, as they have annoucned tour dates for October and November. They plan to stop in Singapore and Mexico City, among other cities.
