The CMO Dr Tony Holohan said that it is not “realistic” to expect people can fly to Europe or other destinations for summer holidays this summer and the only beach they are likely to travel to is their local one.
At a briefing last night he said: “I don’t think we are heading for a summer where millions of people from this part of the world can be heading to beaches that are other than in their own localities.”

The Ryanair boss said: “NPHET and the Chief Medical Officer, if he was doing his job properly, should be holding a daily press conference announcing the number of people who’ve been vaccinated not issuing scare stories about the numbers of people in hospitals. He’s the Chief Medical Officer and he should be dealing with the vaccine.”
“Vaccination is the way out of this Covid crisis, not these failed lockdowns.”
