Gardaí have launched an investigation after the Allianz Ireland headquarters in Dublin 4 was vandalised overnight, in what is being treated as an incident of criminal damage.

The attack took place at the company’s Elm Park offices shortly before 3am, when a group of masked individuals reportedly smashed windows, damaged doors and sprayed graffiti on the property. A pro-Palestinian activist group later claimed responsibility, alleging the act was in protest of Allianz’s association with an Israeli weapons manufacturer.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that officers responded to reports of damage at approximately 2.50am and that “the scene has been preserved for technical examination and investigations are ongoing.” No injuries were reported, and Gardaí remain on site this morning as forensic teams assess the extent of the damage.

Allianz Ireland has updated their statement with the following:

“Allianz plc confirms that An Garda Síochána is investigating an attack at the offices of Allianz in Dublin in which a group of people in balaclavas and black combat style clothing and armed with a variety of implements attempted to gain entry to the building by smashing windows and doors. Allianz employees and contractors in the building at the time alerted Gardai and secured themselves in a safe location in the building as part of our security procedures. The attackers also daubed red paint on the building before leaving.

Our first priority is for the safety and wellbeing of our employees and contractors, particularly those who were in the building when this attack occurred. We are working with them to ensure they are getting our fullest support in the face of what was a frightening ordeal.

Contrary to online commentary and media reporting in Ireland, Allianz plc can confirm that it has no commercial relationship of any kind with Elbit Systems.

As the matter is a criminal investigation the company will not be providing any additional commentary about the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardai.

Customers of Allianz plc can continue to contact us as normal and there is no disruption in service.”

The incident in Dublin is believed to be part of a wider coordinated protest across Europe, with several Allianz offices in other countries also targeted within the past 24 hours. While details of those incidents are still emerging, reports suggest similar acts of vandalism and graffiti were carried out at company properties in Germany, France, and the Netherlands overnight.

The attacks come amid renewed international criticism of companies accused of holding ties to the Israeli defence sector, as global demonstrations continue in response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Activist groups across Europe have increasingly targeted financial and insurance firms alleged to provide indirect support to arms manufacturers. However, Alliance Ireland denied the group has anything to do with the alleged arm manufacturer in question, in a recent statement - "Contrary to online commentary and media reporting in Ireland, Allianz plc can confirm that it has no commercial relationship of any kind with Elbit Systems."

As of this morning, Gardaí continue to patrol the Dublin 4 site while the building remains sealed off for forensic examination. No arrests have yet been made, but authorities say they are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and liaising with international law enforcement partners in light of the wider European incidents.

The investigation remains ongoing, with Gardaí appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the Elm Park area in the early hours of the morning to come forward.
