Gardaí Issue Witness Appeal After Leixlip Shooting

Gardaí in Co. Kildare investigating the fatal shooting of Clive Staunton are appealing for witnesses. The remains of Mr. Staunton has been removed to the City Morgue in Dublin where a post-mortem examination is scheduled.

A Garda Technical examination of the scene at his home in Leixlip has been carried out.  Gardaí are carrying out door-to-door inquiries following last night’s fatal shooting in Leixlip.

50-year-old Clive was shot dead as he arrived home in Glen Easton at around 9:15pm. It’s understood he had a distant link to the Hutch family and Gardai are looking into whether he’s the latest victim of the gangland feud.

Gardaí are asking anyone who saw Clive Staunton or his van a white Mercedes sprinter (96-D-22788) which has a distinctive red stripe on both sides between Bath Avenue, Dublin 4 and Leixlip between 8pm and 9.15pm last night to contact them.

Gardaí would also like to speak to anyone who was in the Glen Easton estate in Leixlip between 8.30pm and 9.30pm last night to contact Gardaí at Leixlip Garda Station.

Gardaí are also appealing for information on the movement of a silver/grey Volvo S40 described as an old style model with a square back between Leixlip and Manor Kilbride in Co. Wicklow.
