Gardaí are on the hunt for two suspects who rammed a Garda patrol car with a stolen vehicle in Kildare.

This incident happened in Co Kildare yesterday morning, with Gardaí reporting that two criminals rammed officers in a a patrol car after they were responding to reports that suspects were trying to steal a vehicle in the Caragh Court Estate, in Naas at around 2.30am.

"Gardaí on patrol responded to reports of attempted unauthorized taking in the Caragh Court Estate, Naas, Co. Kildare on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 shortly before 2:30am. Gardaí encountered a stolen car and signalled for the vehicle to stop", Gardaí said in a statement via the Irish Mirror.

"The vehicle failed to stop and rammed an official Garda patrol vehicle. No injuries were reported at the time. The car failed to remain at the scene. Investigations are ongoing".

News of this comes days after Gardaí had confirmed that a video which appeared to show three men removing firearms from the boot of a car in Tallaght did not involve real guns. This footage had been shared across social media and viewed millions of times.

However, it was later reported that the weapons shown in the video turned out to be replica airsoft guns, with no illegal firearms involved. More on this from Nova here.
